I wrote the passage below back in 2018. It still rings true today.

“Work is using time and energy to accomplish something that will move society forward. Individually, work allows a person to learn and grow. It is training for a particular task or set of tasks.

Work can be one of the sources of life’s meaning. It may or may not involve money, but it usually does to provide for a living. Worthwhile work is one that makes the worker feel empowered to create change, big or small. It empowers the worker and the people around her/him.

Work is merely a part of life, not life itself. Worthwhile work does not rob us of other aspects of life. It complements them.

Work usually addresses a particular problem. I think the quality of work, i.e. whether or not it is worthwhile, depends on the quality of the problem the work is trying to address.

Our work is usually associated with our “calling.” Good work aligns with our values and beliefs. Good work allows us to use our skills and talents for something bigger than ourselves. It usually involves serving society in some way. Good work brings people closer to their True Nature.”
